ICE Air is a little more active than most Mondays with most likely 4 removal flights rather than the typical 3. It is still early and not all is clear. Removals to Haiti, Honduras done or in the air and anticipate 2 to MX. Today is the first day of Black history month and .ICE began with a flight at 3:40 am from Brownsville to San Antonio to Haiti. We believe most on board were subject to T-42. Are they better off being flown to Haiti than expelled to MX? That is better for impacted people to answer, but the I have no ? that T-42 is absurdly amoral and unnecessary. In Dec 9 million people crossed from MX and that was not a health risk, but 60,000 migrants were denied their legal right to seek protection because these black and brown people were a health risk. Perhaps that will be future lesson for Black history month. And, we have reason to believe there may be a deportation flight Wednesday to Africa, maybe Cameroon and Angola. Nothing firm. But MOC advocacy underway and we are watching.
The day finished with 14 ICE Air legs, on the high side of typical for Monday. Removals to Haiti, Honduras, Morelia MX and Villahermosa MX (photo below is of people disembarking - not the young age). Tuesday's are generally more active with more domestic flights moving people around detention center. It seems to be business as usual for ICE so expecting the same with over 20+ legs. Clues of a flight to Africa (Cameroon) coming together for tomorrow or Wed. We will witness. And post.
