And the news comes spilling out of Fort Bliss. Remember Fort Bliss? The place where we put children who we have separated from their families with decades of cruelty and greed? The place where it is hard to see the children, because no one is allowed inside. The place where employees must surrender their phones so no pictures can get out. The place where there are children on suicide watch.
The largest military base in the country. The place nearly invisible today as a dust storm swirls around the monstrous tents, each holding nearly a thousand children. The place where the children sleep as much as they can, because what else is there to do?
The place we hold children because we need to protect them from the families we demolish with our immigration policies, like Title 42, which expels adults but seizes children. The place that fired its employees for talking about the conditions inside, reporting cases of sex abuse.
The place that some members of Congress seem to think is ok, because a Democrat is doing it, not Trump. The place that BBC is exposing all over the world today, as the disgrace it is.
Word is getting out. If only the children were.
