DEATH FLIGHTS - WEEK OF 27 July – please share for transparency

THIS WEEK WAS A BIT BELOW THE LAST 6-WEEK AVERAGE, BUT FOLLOWED A SIGNIFICANTLY ABOVE AVERAGE WEEK.

LATER THIS WEEK WE ANTICIPATE PUBLISHING OUR JULY AND JULY YEAR-TO-DATE REPORT.

THIS WEEK THERE WERE 14 DEPORTATION FLIGHTS TO 5 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES.

83 Total Flights. Down 7 from last last week and a bit below the last 6-week average of 88, all the result of deportation related flights that were lower. Deportations of 14 however, were 22% below the last 6-week average of 18, and was the lowest week since the week of 1 June. We do not anticipate this is anything except a decrease following an enormous week last week with 21 deportations.

WEEKLY SUMMARY

83 Flights, down 7 from last week. However, Shuffle flights of 42 were 6 above last week and slightly above their 6-week average. Once again, Shuffle flights seem to be relatively consistent each week, regardless of deportation flights.

-

14 Deportations – down 7 from last week and to 5 different countries. 22% below the last 6-week average of 18.

Mexico (6), down 1 from last week, and right in line with every week since min-June.

13 Deportation US Connections, same as last week.

14 Deportation Returns, down 6 from last week

42 Shuffle flights in the US, up 6 from as last week.

Ø Noteworthy this week

Based on patterns, next week, in addition to the Central American countries we might expect deportations to Ecuador, Nicaragua, Haiti and possibly Brazil and/or Dominican

Ø The Detainee population dropped 258 this week, similar to last few weeks. The June weekly average decrease was about 650. May saw decreases of about 1,000 per week. The current population is 21,884.

Ø Almost 70,000 asylum seekers have been turned back under this illegal order since mid- March. 27,000 alone in June out of 30,400 encounters and up from 20,000 in May. In a week to 10 days we expect the release of the July numbers.

Ø 3,936 detainees have tested positive for COVID, up 156 or 4%, this week. 19,092 have been tested since the beginning of testing, up 2,589 this week, so 21% positive rate. This week’s 2,589 tests followed weeks of 2,941 and 1,734. We are not sure of why there was an increase, or if results are in.

-There are 944 detainees in isolation of under monitoring, almost the same as last week.

Note: ICE Air does not disclose their flights. Flight listing gleaned from public flight information, knowledge of detention center locations, air charter services and historic patterns. In rare cases, there may be a flight we miss, or include in error.
