The battle lines are going to shift. But the battle is far from over.

As long as borders are used to defend the unjust and unequal distribution of the world’s resources, we will find those borders and highlight the injustice we see. As we have learned, the border is everywhere. Sidelined as many of us have been by our vulnerability to the disease that is ravaging the land, we can still choose to see.

Looking is not the same as seeing. To witness is to see with intent. There is no wall, no militarized force that stands between the people dining at restaurants at outdoor tables, and people lining up for food distribution at a church storefront less than a block away.

But a witness can see it. A witness can’t help but see it.

The plight of migrants leaving their homes to come and live in a strange land has turned our eyes into a black light that makes injustice glow.

What you see can change the world.
