Lee and Nancy Goodman and I joined with others to welcome Little Amal, a puppet who is traveling the world, to Chicago. Little Amal represents a displaced Syrian child. Amal means hope in Arabic. "Little" refers to the fact that she's a child and perhaps also to having just a sliver of hope for the future. walkwithamal.org
